Indoor Running: "Mount Dowd"
The Yorkshire Area Group of the 16mm NGM owns and operates the portable layout "Mount Dowd". This was built over 2005 by some of the Yorkshire Group Members using surplus from the Elsecar Show and replaces "Mount Dowd" which ran for many years as the groups layout.
This layout is normally delivered by trailer to a venue thanks to the Yorkshire Group, members then set it up and can be ready to run within the hour. Dismantling afterwards is somewhat quicker. Many of the events attended raise funds for charity, and over the year the amounts involved are quite considerable.
Members can be involved setting up and running on "Mount Dowd" at many events, see "Diary Dates" for details.

Indoor Running: "Nant Mawr"
Several members of the Yorkshire Area Group of the 16mm NGM are also actively involved with The Huddersfield Railway Modellers. They have a portable layout, Nant Mawr, which is thought to be the largest 16mm gauge exhibition layout in the country. The Nant Mawr Light Railway can be seen at several events throughout the year, see "Diary Dates" for details. At exhibitions Nant Mawr is staffed by members of the Huddersfield Railway Modellers. Yorkshire Area Group members who are not members of the Huddersfield Railway Modellers have the opportunity to run on Nant Mawr on specified evenings at Stonefield Mills, see "Diary Dates" for details.
