The Yorkshire Garden Railway Show on Tour!
The 2024 Show will be held at Barrow Hill Roundhouse on Saturday 28 September provisionally
See NEWS for Show pictures
The Roundhouse is over 150 years old, with the added attraction to visitors that all trader spaces and layouts will be set out amongst steam and diesel locomotives and items of rolling stock, displayed on the 24 storage tracks in the Roundhouse.
Visitors to the show will see the turntable in operation every hour during the show. They can also look around the rest of the Barrow Hill site, with its outside displays of standard gauge rolling stock and renovation work by the Deltic Preservation Society. You can find more information on the Barrow Hill Roundhouse at https://www.barrowhill.org.
From The Chairman : Tony Wright
WOW!! - The Yorkshire Garden Railway Show went on tour and what a show! As the dust settles on the first YGRS On Tour let's reflect on this show. If you didn't attend or haven't been to Barrow Hill Roundhouse what did you miss?
The roundhouse (albeit rectangular!), is the last original one containing an operational turntable and within it are early generation diesels and electrics under repair ....
as well as historic steam locomotives.

Amongst these locomotives we placed the show comprising five layouts

and over thirty of the finest traders serving our hobby.

Outside there were more locomotives and stock, train rides, signal box tours and the Deltic Preservation Society shed where three of these magnificent racehorses are being reawakened.

The show could not go ahead without a prodigious effort from members of the YAG, the very helpful staff and volunteers from Barrow Hill and the understanding and fortitude of the traders and layout operators.
The move to a new location would always present challenges and certainly Barrow Hill has several unique challenges which we can improve on. To round up, it was a fantastic show in a unique environment enjoyed by all.
To all of you who helped, contributed or supported the show in any way a huge, huge thank you - I hope to see you there next year.
